I won’t say much. That’s Julien’s style, so I’ll do the same in order to fit the mood.

I met Julien in SoHo in 2011 or so. He was wearing a really big hat, and a really big cross as an earring. He didn’t say much. Neither will I.

Julien came to a photo show I did at the W Hotel in Times Square. He probably wore a long drapey sleeveless shirt by THAMANYAH, in addition to a really big hat, and a really big cross as an earring. Julien will read this and say “Of course.”

I know that Julien is NOT from Paris. He grew up in Sète. This is apparently important. If you mention the word “Marseille” he will pump his fist in the air and say “La Capitale”. Julien will read this and say “Of course”.

I also know that Julien drives a motorcycle and scooter like he’s playing a video game, and his safety is not on the line. He protects his really big cross as an earring inside of a helmet, thankfully. Julien will read this and say “Of course.”

Regardless of knowing Julien for nearly fifteen years and spending more time in proximity than most married couples will do in a lifetime, I in fact know very little about the man beyond the colloquial level.

I will leave you with the three most inspiring quotes that Julien has shared with me over the 1.5 decades of being acquainted:

“I dunno, maybe…”

“I guess!”

and of course, saving the best for last:

“Let’s go, let’s get it.”

Merci, Julien.
